Roof Repairs across Cheshire
Most roof repairs we are asked to do come down to a handful of causes: slipped, cracked or missing tiles and slates, worn ridge mortar, failed flashings around chimneys and walls, tired valleys and blocked or broken gutters. All can be put right without replacing the whole roof if the roof is otherwise sound.
Every repair starts with a proper look at the roof, not a guess from the ground. We take photos, show you what we have found and put the work and the price in writing. If you are also thinking about solar panels, it is cheaper to sort the roof first, and we can advise on both together.
Want to talk it through?
Send us a photo or describe the problem and we will tell you honestly what we would do and what it involves. A free survey and a written quote follow.
Signs your roof needs attention
- Slipped, cracked or missing tiles or slates, or tiles that look different from the rest
- Damp patches, stains or drips on ceilings, or a musty smell in the loft
- Daylight showing in the loft, or damp insulation and timbers
- Crumbling ridge or hip mortar, or ridge tiles that have shifted
- Gutters overflowing, sagging or stained down the wall below
How we repair a roof
We work out where the water is getting in, which is not always where the stain appears indoors, and fix the cause rather than patching the symptom. Tiles and slates are replaced or refixed with the right fixings, ridges are re-bedded or refixed, flashings are renewed and valleys and gutters are cleared and repaired.
Where we can match the existing roof covering we do, and where the old material is no longer made we find the closest match and tell you what to expect. We leave the roof weathertight each day, clear up as we go and show you photos of the finished work.

Repair or replace?
A good rule of thumb: if the problems are local, the battens and felt are sound and the covering is in reasonable condition, repair is the sensible answer. If the roof has widespread slipped or failing tiles, rotten battens or many previous patches, a new roof usually costs less over time than repeated repairs. We will tell you which applies and show you why.
What affects the cost?
The price depends on what is wrong, how much roof is involved, how high and how accessible it is, and whether scaffold is needed. A few replacement tiles from a ladder is a very different job from re-bedding a long ridge or renewing a valley. We survey first and quote a fixed price for the work described.

Roof Repairs: your questions answered
How long does a roof repair take?
Most repairs are done in a day. Larger jobs such as renewing a valley or re-bedding a long ridge can take longer. We give you a timescale in writing.
Can you match my existing tiles or slates?
Often, yes. If the original is no longer made we find the closest match, or take tiles from a less visible slope. We show you the options before we start.
Do you need scaffold for a repair?
Not always. Small repairs can be done from a ladder or roof access equipment, but anything high or extensive is safer with scaffold. We include it in the quote where it is needed.
What if you find more problems once you are up there?
We show you, explain them and agree any extra cost with you before carrying on. Nothing is added without your say-so.
